The pattern uses stranded colourwork, although does not require the anchoring of long yarn floats at the back of the work. The edges are worked using a Latvian braid.  Other techniques include an alternating two colour cast-on and a suspended bind-off. Instructions are included on the last page.
Knowledge of single-colour long tail cast-on is assumed.
