Laterano Scarf

  • Featuring diagonal bands of mosaic colourwork between Latvian braids, interspersed with bands of garter stitch, this scarf is inspired by Cosmatesque mosaics decorating the columns in the cloisters of the basilica of San Giovanni Laterano in Rome.

    3.25mm/US 3 preferred needle for medium width flat knitting.
    Tapestry needle for finishing.


    38 sts and 52 rows to 10cm/4in, after wetblocking, across garter stitch. 38 sts and 66 rows to 10cm/4in, across mosaic colourwork. 



    One size: length 183cm/72in, width 20cm/8in.



    Worked diagonally, the pattern uses Latvian braids and mosaic (slipped-stitch) colourwork which is fully charted with written instructions requiring no prior knowledge.
